🇮🇱🇵🇸🚨‼️ Israel will launch an assault on Rafah even if it entails a severance of relations with the United States, Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer said, The Times of Israel reports.
The publication writes that “the prospect of an assault on Rafah by tanks and troops worries Washington, which demands that Israel must have a plan to resettle the more than a million Palestinians who have taken refuge there after being forced to flee other parts of the Gaza Strip since the start of the war.”
However, Ron Dermer said that Israel will listen to American ideas regarding Rafah, but the city on the Gaza Strip border with Egypt will be taken regardless of whether the allies reach an agreement.
“This will happen even if Israel is forced to fight alone. Even if the whole world, including the United States, turns against Israel, we will fight until the battle is won,” he said.
Dermer said that if Hamas is in Rafah, it will lead to “unprecedented attacks on Israel from across the region.”
“And that’s why the determination to destroy them is so strong, even if it means a potential rupture in relations with the United States,” he explained.
Dermer said there were four Hamas battalions in Rafah, supported by fighters who retreated from other parts of Gaza, representing 25% of the group’s pre-war strength.
“We’re not going to leave a quarter of them in place. We go to Rafah because we have to,” Dermer said
