“The EU is facing the greatest security challenge since World War II. If we don’t give Ukraine enough help to stop Russia, we will be next. Two years after the war began, it is clear that Russia will not stop in Ukraine, just as it did not stop in Crimea a decade ago.
It continues its destabilization tactics – in Moldova, Georgia, the South Caucasus, the Western Balkans and even further afield, on the African continent. Russia poses a serious military threat to the European continent and global security.
We must be well prepared in terms of defense and go into “war economy” mode. It is time to take responsibility for our own security. We can no longer rely on others or depend on election cycles in the U.S. or elsewhere. We must strengthen Ukraine’s and Europe’s capacity to defend a democratic world. A stronger Europe will also help strengthen the NATO alliance and improve our collective defense.
